I want to start this off by saying...I love shooting "boss women". So fun to spend time shooting and learning their story, their journey and as a plus interviewing them asking questions submitted from my Instagram followers.
I met Elise when I was shooting a wedding last summer. I was so expressed with her and her take charge attitude, knowing her job and getting it done. That is precisely what a good coordinator must do to keep the wedding day running smoothly.
When Elise approached me to do a re-branding shoot. I was hands in the air with excitement. She warned me she was no model and she hates being in front of the camera. I told her no worries girl- I got this... and look how these photos turned out. I'm obsessed with them. They not only show her beauty but her personality. Such a fun shoot and I just want to hang out with Elise and do it again :)
Now ENOUGH about my babble... Here are the answers to some of your great questions you asked Elise.
Advice to a newly engaged bride:
BREATHE!!!! I know that you have a million thoughts flooding your head! First thing, nail down a date! Honestly that determines so much right out of the gate. And remember, to be accepting of the advice/input that everyone around you will have - but make sure you define your timeline for what works best for you & your future spouse! Then ENJOY your first moments of being engaged... the stress can ruin those tender times.
What interested you in becoming a wedding coordinator:
Gosh, it's kind of unconventional how I came to love wedding coordinating! I was never the little girl who dreamed and planned all of the bells and whistles of the perfect wedding. Throughout college I organized events for different clubs, and found myself picking up little side gigs of coordinating birthdays, office parties, graduation celebrations... And then what really sold it for me was getting to be in the weddings of a few of my very best friends; and watching all of the pieces come together - the amount of love into each detail, I mean y'all it brings tears to my eyes; I knew that I wanted to be in the chaos and orchestrate it into every couples perfect celebration!
What is your GOAL on wedding day:
My absolute biggest priority and goal on wedding day; is to ensure that the day is all of what YOU (the couple) want! Every dynamic is different. But my heart and soul for your day is that YOU feel like it's your day! Not your mom's, your bff's, your grandma's, your DJ's, your dog's, or my own show. I want to protect that for you! Making nitty gritty decisions on that day so that you don't have to! All the work has been done and things are in place, so that you can ENJOY!
4- Are you a fan of a bride and groom doing a first look:
I think a first look can be so special and so intimate! Really I think it can be perfect for ceremonies that start a little later, because it alleviates the stress of the timeline of photos. Once the FL is over, you can get all of your group photos done before your ceremony starts! But don’t get me wrong.... I love the build up to the grand entry of a bride who has saved a FL for the aisle️
Elsie you killed it with those answers.
